Residents can notify the New Castle City Police Department two ways while away on vacation/business. You can complete the property check form online (attached) and e-mail it to Police@newcastlecity.delaware.gov or call 322-9800 M-F 8am-4pm to speak to the police secretary. In both cases patrol officers will have access to an up to date list of properties where the residents are away. Due to complaint volume and unforeseen circumstances, we cannot guarantee the safety of your home, however, the Operations Commander will direct increased patrols in the areas around your home while you are away.
Providing emergency contact information is very important. By designating an emergency contact you are giving the police department permission to notify the contact of any calls for service to your residence.
The New Castle City Police Department has partnered with PROTECH DNA to provide residents with a “state of the art” innovative way to protect your property. Residents interested in participating in the program will receive a free DNA kit that will allow you to put a unique identifier on all of your valuables using microdot technology.
To get started residents are encouraged to stop into the police department every Tuesday and Thursday at 3pm to meet with Captain Dempsey. There you will receive start up information along with a free bike registration kit and a ultra violet marking pen.
